Meet Paraffin. She gets a little tipsy on the vanilla extract, but other than that, she's very helpful around the kitchen. She's the one who nags me when I don't use a butter knife to level off the flour in the measuring cup or use old baking powder. Don't ask her about the Pillsbury Doughboy, either--last time I asked, she muttered something about, "Not rising properly, no matter how much yeast I use!" and I couldn't stiffen eggs whites for a week. Paraffin is easily appeased with bittersweet chocolate and saffron. She lives in the cupboards and keeps the magic in the kitchen.
Original creation. Ink over pencil sketch, scanned, colored in Photoshop 7.
