Well, I’ve been hard at work at making Paraffin into a real live doll. Who is Paraffin? Here’s her very first appearance and here’s the listing of all the other places she has shown up on the blog. She is one of the Kitchen Dolls and I tackled turning her into a real doll for the Create96 30 in 30 Challenge, where 30 artists had 30 days to each create 1 thing. You can follow Create96 on Twitter or check out the Create96 Tumblr (where they are posting creations made for the 30 in 30 challenge). You’ll find some of Raheem’s work there, too (or you can check out his blog: Eye of the Sun God).
Without further ado…here’s Paraffin! (Just about EVERYTHING is hand-sewn, by the way)
Tucked inside her bag were some treats (made out of Sculpey clay that I sculpted, then baked, so they would stay hard).
Here’s the detail of her apron: tucked inside her pockets are (left to right) a rolling pin and spatula (made out of Sculpey) and a copper saute pan I bought in the button section of Joann’s Fabrics.
Here’s an up-close of her rolling pin and spatula.
Here’s an up-close of her face.
Here’s her blouse, which is under the apron (which is removable)—note the PLEATS! I managed PLEATS!
Here’s an up-close of her jeans—note the stitching for the “zipper” (it actually closes with Velcro).
I got all the fabrics and supplies at Joann’s Fabrics.
